BARNSLEY RESORT

Tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northwest Georgia lies Barnsley Resort, a 3,000-acre getaway where nature and Southern hospitality come together as one. From practicing your swing at the 18-hole Jim Fazio golf course, saddling up for a horseback ride through the nature trails, or testing their aim at the Beretta Shooting Grounds, this adult playground-like retreat encourages guests to make those unforgettable memories and set life alight.

The acclaimed property was acquired by South Street Partners in 2022, one of the largest owners and operators of private residential club and resort communities in the United States, including Kiawah Island, Palmetto Bluff and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. The resort’s ownership group has since embarked on an ambitious renovation plan for the 140-room resort, with an expansive $16M slate of upgrades executed over the past year alone. The summer of 2025 includes an exciting lineup of developments, including the opening of Jules, an inviting new signature restaurant under the helm of notable Chef Shaun Doty, the addition of a second pool with lazy river, and an 18-hole Himalayas Putting Course called The Merger, designed by Atlanta-based firm Bergin Golf Design. These arrive on the heels of enhancements to the current pool, which debuted in May, and complement the late 2024 developments, which entailed an extensive remodel to the 85 cottage suites, the addition of six new pickleball courts, the newly-built Biergarten, and updates and additions to the Beretta Shooting Grounds.

2:00 / 2:30 PM
Group Arrives to Resort

Welcome to Barnsley Resort! Enjoy some free time in your newly renovated cottage or enjoy a stroll around the grounds. In late 2024, these gorgeous cottages received a top-to-bottom redesign by Charlotte Lucas Design, introducing
an elevated atmosphere of reimagined Southern hospitality.

3:30 PM
Pickleball Lesson

Time to get sporty! These newly built courts are just one part of the many upgrades included in the 2024 renovations. With the help of one of our instructors, get ready to be a pro in no time.

5:30 PM
Welcome Pecan-Infused Bourbon Tasting Experience & Holiday Walk
Before dinner, we'll experience the resort's signature bourbon ritual - a tasting of its one-of-a-kind, pecan-infused bourbon and a specialty smoked Old Fashioned. Please meet in the lobby of the Inn. Afterwards, we'll take a stroll through the beautifully lit up grounds and Manor House Ruins & Gardens that'll guarantee get everyone in the holiday spirit.

7:00 PM
Dinner at Jules
We are among the first to experience the brand new Jules restaurant at the resort. Jules Executive Chef Shaun Doty is thrilled to have everyone experience Jules and all it has to offer. Best known for his work at Atlanta’s The Federal, which earned the esteemed title of James Beard nominee for Best New Restaurant, his passion and prestige have swept the Peach State, where he launched and led several popular Atlanta establishments, including Shaun’s, Yeah Burger and Bantam & Biddy. The menu at Jules is an homage to the ingredients of the region, a delicious abundance sourced from the resort’s farm, local gardens, pastures and fields, fused together through the alchemy of fire and global culinary techniques. Dishes take their cue from nature, rotating with the seasons and adapting to the availability of grains, meats, fruits, and vegetables in their prime. With a keen focus on sustainability, the menu pairs local produce from Georgian and Southern purveyors with garnishes and vegetables from Barnsley Resort’s on-site farm.

The building's reimagined interiors are brought to life by David Thompson Studio, the Charleston, South Carolina, architecture and design firm behind many acclaimed Southern restaurants. Jules is inspired by the original estate owner’s daughter, Julia Barnsley, and celebrates its historic character while updating with fresh finishes that pair authentic sensibilities with contemporary elements.

9:00 AM
Breakfast at Woodlands
We'll fuel up for the day at your first Barnsley breakfast. Indulge in the various menu items, including the specialty Barnsley Butcher's Breakfast and the Heritage Breakfast Platter to get a little taste of several fun bites. Come dressed to head straight to the Barnsley Bullseye activity after breakfast!

Barnsley Bullseye
It's time to bring out your competitive side. We'll split into teams to compete in the Barnsley Bullseye Challenge, testing our skills in axe throwing, archery and air rifles.

12:30 PM
Lunch at Woodlands
Today, we'll have lunch at the signature Woodlands restaurant that overlooks the Fazio golf course. Here, you'll find tasty bites like the Barnsley Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Chef's Harvest Flatbread and a classic Smokestack Burger.

2:30 PM
Round of Golf at the New Himalayas Putting Course - The Merger
The resort team recently wrapped up its 2025 renovation projects, and this afternoon, we'll be among the first to hang out on the brand new 18-hole Himalayas putting course, designed by Bergin Golf Design. The Merger embraces the game’s social and laid-back side. Positioned between the pool area and the lake, the long, narrow layout naturally lends itself to an “out and back” routing of holes. With its artful contours and flexible setup, the course offers endless configurations for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Late Afternoon at Leisure
Take the afternoon to do as you please before dinner. Take a stroll through the nature trails, take a quick nap in your cozy cottage, grab a drink at Biergarten - whatever's calling your name!

7:00 PM
Dinner at Woodlands

Tonight, we'll satiate our taste buds with a great meal at Woodlands. Don't pass up the Beef Carbonnade or the Parmesan Crusted Triggerfish - both are phenomenal options.

Post-Dinner S'mores on the Village Green
After dinner, we'll toast up a sweet treat and cheers to a great trip at Barnsley Resort. We'll cozy up and wind down by a fire pit along the Village Green before heading back to the cottages.

Friday, December 12

Breakfast at Woodlands
It's time for a flavorful breakfast at Woodlands! Buttermilk Pancakes are a fan-favorite, and the Signature Southern Biscuit is a Georgia classic you won't want to miss.

10:30 AM
Clay Shooting at the Beretta Shooting Grounds
Ready, aim, pull! We'll learn how to bring down flying clays at the newly renovated Beretta Shooting Grounds by High Adventure Company. Professional instructors will walk us through a safety demo and then help guide us to hit the target with the popular clay shooting activity that's a fan favorite among Barnsley guests. Please meet in the lobby at 10:30 AM for our 11:00 AM reservation, and be sure to wear closed-toed shoes!

12:30 PM
Lunch at Biergarten
Kick back and relax at the new Biergarten, where we can relax in the pavilion's shade or warm up in the sun on the Village Green
. Nestled in the heart of the resort village, this al fresco concept beckons with regional, German and European brews and traditional classics, such as homemade hot pretzels, bratwurst and German-inspired salads and sandwiches. It's always a good "stein" at the Biergarten!

Late Afternoon at Leisure
During this time, we'll take some time to chill out and relax before regrouping for the Tuscan Wine Dinner this evening. Take this time to get some work done, explore the property, or maybe head back over to The Merger if you didn't get enough yesterday and want to work on your putting technique (there are no payments or reservations required, so it's first come first serve).
